Kirk > New $20 bills - Proof that money does grow on trees.

Kirk > Sean and I went to Goblin Valley State Park to camp. There was a full moon. It took about 22 seconds to get the stars and rock formations exposed properly. A small flash light created the glow inside the tent.

Kirk > Fall up American Fork Canyon. This was shot with a wide angle lens and is best viewd larger.

Kirk > 1/24/07 – This is an image I shot last summer at Orem’s Summer Fest parade. The image never appealed to me. But yesterday I learned a new photo technique called the Orton Effect. The original effect was done with slides long before digital imaging and named after Michael Orton who first used the technique. He would shoot two images, both under exposed. One was in focus and the other out of focus and then he would sandwich the two images into one mount. The result was a dreamy, luminescent image that can make a dull image pop. For me, it did just that for this shot. I never saw anything in this image until I applied the Orton Effect. – Cool!

Kirk > We hiked all night long in total darkness to be on top of Mt. Timpanogos by sunrise. We decided to wait at the saddle (bottom left) for sunrise before taking the 45 minute hike to the summit. I was glad I did. The light was fantastic.

$Kirk > This calm and peaceful reflection isn't what you might think. This is a puddle in a parking lot. The image was shot by putting the camera on a monopod, setting the timer and then placing the camera upside down just a fraction of an inch above the water. The puddle is not more than an inch or two deep but created the perception of a lake or pond from this perspective.$

I generally prefer to shoot landscape without people in them, but the ATV rider anchored the image, created perspective and added to the story that the image had to share.
