This is a collection of my personal favorites - photos I've shot over the past few years for themes & challenges to vacations to hiking and camping in the mountains. Mostly opportunities just to get out into nature and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us all.

Kirk > New $20 bills - Proof that money does grow on trees.

Kirk > I was in an antique shop at the base of the Bingham Copper Mine, the largest open pit mine in the U.S. and saw this gear detail. I have no idea what it is but found the detail and contrast interesting and took the shot.

Kirk > This is west of my home down by the Geneva Steel plant where Lisa's dad once worked. The plant is now closed.

Kirk > There is a story behind this image. A friend and I were shooting themes and the weekly theme was "Old Glory". While camping I hung the flag with all the towels to capture this shot. I like the image because the flag is out of context which draws attention to it even though it is very small.

Kirk > This might be my all time favorite image. It has special meaning to me. My parents have several walnut trees around their home and they produce thousands of walnuts every year. My dad collects them, husks them and sets them out to dry. Then he bags them and gives them away. I was at their home and was walking by when I saw his work gloves sitting on top of the walnuts. For me it told the story and represents how my dad has always worked hard around his yard. Someday he will be gone, but this photo will always remind me of who he was.

Kirk > This is one of those random images that just works. I shot it from my car as I crossed the railroad tracks without looking through the viewfinder. I then gave it a watercolor treatment in Photoshop.

Kirk > We were in Cache Valley visiting Lisa's parents and I was looking to shoot images for the theme "Round". I got several but this was my best.

Kirk > That's me. This is the summit of Mt. Timpanogos looking to the north/north west towards Salt Lake city. If you look carefully you can see the trail coming across the face of the mountain behind me. Round trip is 16 miles. Fortunately going down doesn't take even half as long as going up.
