This is a collection of my personal favorites - photos I've shot over the past few years for themes & challenges to vacations to hiking and camping in the mountains. Mostly opportunities just to get out into nature and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us all.

Kirk > The blue sky, snow and rocks along the ridges in Logan Canyon become almost abstracts of nature. It takes just a moment to realize what you are seeing.

Kirk > Most people think this is a shot of a guy on a snowmobile, but it is an ATV disguised as a snowmobile. While sledding in a large gravel pit I captured this image at dusk. We had several feet of fresh powder and to help the kids get back to the top of the hill Steve would tow kids up the hill behind a 4X4 ATV. Once at the top he would punch the gas and fly back down the hill, sometimes completely disappearing in a cloud of powder. The headlights give off an eerie glow creating some interesting colors.
Kirk > I got some new snow shoes and wanted to try them out. I took off one morning before sunrise, by myself, in a steady snow storm. I wanted to record the event so I set my tripod up and took this shot. A few weeks later very near here several teanagers were killed when they triggered an avalanche while trying to snowboard the new snow.
Kirk > I captured this image on a snowshoe trip. I was headed back to my vehicle and the drifts of snow against the pine trees caught my eye. It is best to view this one a little larger to see the detailed texture of the snow. Just click on it.
Kirk > This calm and peaceful reflection isn't what you might think. This is a puddle in a parking lot. The image was shot by putting the camera on a monopod, setting the timer and then placing the camera upside down just a fraction of an inch above the water. The puddle is not more than an inch or two deep but created the perception of a lake or pond from this perspective.
