One photo a day for 365 days - one year! I've wanted to try this for a long time so here we go. Surely I will struggle to find subjects to shoot but it will be interesting to see how it works out. I don't expect my best work, but I do expect to sharpen my eye to see more around me, and hopefully the process to compose the mundane will improve my photography overall. I will try and post my shots at least a couple times each week if not better. Enjoy.

Kirk > 11/21/07 – These dry thistles caught my attention because of the graceful curls surrounding the thorny thistle. It was an interesting contrast of nature.
Kirk > 11/20/07 – Lisa likes to decorate for the holidays and that starts with Thanksgiving. This is a scarecrow that stands about 3 feet tall at the front entrance of our home. The home feels very festive this time of the year.
Kirk > 11/19/07 – Jessica had to do an art project for a history of creativity class at BYU. She borrowed an idea from Sean earlier in the year (see the image for 5/19) and created a packing-tape sculpture of herself and then filled it with items that represent her interests. This is just before she attached her head. The finished project was very cool.
Kirk > 11/18/07 - This is Matt Clayton. He works for me at Mstar. He is our Director of Marketing. I’m sure I’ll find a creative use for this photo down the road.
Kirk > 11/17/07 – This image has sentimental value to me. I ordered this squirrel trap out of a catalog when I was 11 and we were living in Paradise, CA. It is now 38 years old and still works. I’ve lost track of many things over the years but I still have this trap. I caught a lot of squirrels, cats and even a few skunks. It represents some great childhood memories for me.
Kirk > 11/16/07 – It has been a beautiful fall. I couldn’t pass this young boy walking along the railroad tracks. It just looked so peaceful.
Kirk > 11/15/07 – This is Steve and Kate Wilcox (Richards). They got married today. Steve used to work for me at Mstar, and Kate is my director of corporate communications currently. They had their reception in the Memorial House at Memory Grove in Salt Lake City. It was very nice.
Kirk > 11/14/07 – Time for the next play. This was Don’t Drink the Water. It was very funny. This play used the same set as last weeks play but it had been painted and decorated to look like a U.S. Embassy.
Kirk > 11/13/07 – What caught my eye was the reflection of the sky off the water that created a nice contrasting background for the detail of the weeds in the bottom right hanging out over the canal.
Kirk > 11/12/07 – I had meetings in Salt Lake City all afternoon. On my way home I stopped at IKEA to get some things for my office. When I came out the sun had set and was just touching the very top of the mountain peeks.
Kirk > 11/11/07 – I enjoyed this quick grab shot of Oslo as he was exploring the house. You can see how small he is in this picture because this case is barely big enough to hold just my camera.
Kirk > 11/10/07 – These three pines are holding on for dear life as the hillside is slowly eroding. It was much more interesting in person.
Kirk > 11/9/07 – I went looking for a photo but found the unexpected. Fall has been very warm but this small pond is in the shade 24 hours a day. It is actually frozen. The No Swimming sign is reflecting off the glass-like ice. The white looking stuff is small bubbles trapped in the ice.
Kirk > 11/8/07 – When there isn’t much color I look for textures. This shot of some rail tracks fit the bill.
Kirk > 11/7/07 – I needed a break from work and drove up Provo Canyon. This fly fisherman was enjoying the very warm fall we are having.
